L'Inferno Bianco (The White Hell) by Cesco Tomaselli, published by Edizioni Vnitas in Milan, Italy. First edition from 1929. The book includes illustrated maps and content about Arctic exploration, as indicated by the Calotta Artica (Arctic Cap) map visible in the frontispiece. Bound in burgundy cloth with decorative spine label. Italian language. Appears to contain a handwritten inscription on the front endpaper. Period handwritten presentation inscription to the front endpaper. The inscription appears to begin with "Omaggio...", an Italian term meaning approximately "with compliments" or "presented as a gift," suggesting the book may have been presented rather than simply signed by a previous owner. Additional handwriting appears to possibly reference "Casa del Libro." Below is a large flowing handwritten name or signature that appears approximately "?ofiavanni" or "?ofiovanni," followed by a separately underlined word or surname that appears similar to "Biken," "Biben," or "Bikeu." The exact wording and identity of the signer have not been conclusively determined.

I would not call this an "ownership inscription" alone because the apparent Omaggio wording makes a presentation inscription a real possibility.

Estimated Value $200-$250
