Group of five Italian-language volumes devoted to art, literature, Italian theatrical masks, Turin architectural history, and the House of Savoy. Highlights include the 1945 Hoepli edition of I Carmi di Catullo, translated by Vincenzo Errante and decorated with lithographs by Filippo De Pisis, and Pietro Toesca's Masolino a Castiglione Olona, issued by Edizioni d'Arte Amilcare Pizzi in 1946 with 32 color plates. The group has mixed cloth, board, and paper bindings, with decorative covers, illustrated content, and handwritten notes accompanying the Turin history volume.

ARTIST / CREATOR BIOGRAPHY
Filippo De Pisis (1896-1956) was an Italian painter, writer, and printmaker born Luigi Filippo Tibertelli in Ferrara. Raised in a cultivated household, he developed early interests in literature, drawing, natural history, and collecting. He studied literature and philosophy at the University of Bologna and adopted the name De Pisis in reference to a family ancestor. In Ferrara during the First World War, De Pisis encountered Giorgio de Chirico, Alberto Savinio, and Carlo Carrà. The atmosphere surrounding Metaphysical painting informed his early work, though he soon developed a freer and more personal manner. After periods in Rome, Paris, and Venice, he became known for landscapes, city views, interiors, portraits, flowers, and still lifes rendered with swift, animated brushwork and an elegant sensitivity to color. De Pisis maintained literary and artistic practices throughout his career, publishing poetry and prose while also producing drawings and lithographs. His extended residence in Paris brought him into contact with modern French painting, while his knowledge of earlier Italian and European art remained central to his distinctive style. He died in Milan in 1956, leaving a body of work admired for its lyrical immediacy, intellectual character, and delicate balance between observation and poetic invention.
