Heathkit AR-1429 solid-state AM/FM stereo receiver with a brushed aluminum faceplate, walnut end panels, analog tuning display, dual tuning meters, and separate tuning, volume, bass, treble, and balance controls. Additional front controls include speaker A/B selection, squelch, blend, stereo, loudness, tone, tape monitor, and a headphone jack. Heathkit rated the AR-1429 at 35 watts minimum RMS per channel into 8 ohms from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with less than 0.1% total harmonic distortion. Rear connections include phono, auxiliary, tape, and tape-monitor inputs; preamplifier, tape, and scope outputs; power-amplifier inputs; AM and FM antenna terminals; and connections for two pairs of speakers. Switched and unswitched convenience outlets are also provided. The rear plate identifies the Heath Company of Benton Harbor, Michigan, model AR-1429, with a 120/240 VAC, 50/60 Hz power rating and 240-watt consumption. A Heathkit builder certification label bears handwritten entries.
