Eva N. Mosonyi (b. 1935, Budapest, Hungary)
Born in Budapest, Hungary in 1935, Eva N. Mosonyi studied fine arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. In 1956, her studies were interrupted by the Hungarian Revolution, and she was obliged to flee her native land, taking refuge in Canada where she enrolled that same year at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Montreal. In 1962, she became a member of the Association of Independent Artists, and in 1964 she held her first solo exhibition at The Royal Gallery in Montreal. Her work was received by the public and critics in a most favourable way, and to this day amateurs and connoisseurs alike continue to favour and support her. CanadianclassicfineartKoyman Galleries
Mosonyi represents scenes of everyday life and expresses, in a truthful way, the interactions between her characters. Her paintings present family scenes, friendly and warm encounters, diverse scenes of children at play, and animated crowds moving through urban spaces. She applies her paint thickly to the canvas with a palette knife and never retouches her work - a hallmark impasto technique that gives her surfaces a bold, tactile energy and allows light to play across the ridges and textures of the paint. Serenity, calm, and the immense love the artist has for the people that surround her all come through in her beautiful works of art. Koyman Galleries + 2
Throughout her career she has participated in numerous exhibitions including at Place Ville-Marie (Montreal), Julianne Gallery (Scarborough), Galerie Nova (Montreal), Galerie Saint-Paul (Montreal), Gallery Mora Fine Arts (Ontario), and Galerie Symbole Art (Montreal). Canadianclassicfineart
