Signed Russian architectural painting depicting the Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg, recognizable by its exceptionally tall gilded spire and Baroque architecture. The cathedral is the principal landmark of the historic Peter and Paul Fortress and a defining feature of the St. Petersburg skyline.
The composition presents the cathedral and adjoining architecture beyond a waterfront embankment, with bare trees in the foreground beneath a softly rendered blue and white sky.
The handwritten Cyrillic inscription at the lower right appears to include «?. ?????-?????????», translating as "City of St. Petersburg," followed by a stylized artist's signature and 1993 ?., indicating the year 1993. The individual artist has not been definitively identified from the signature.
Presented under glass with a broad dark marbled mat, narrow gilt inner border and metallic-finish outer frame.
