DESCRIPTION
Vintage Mexican folk art carved and polychrome-painted wooden merman parade figure, traditionally produced in Guerrero and central Mexico and associated with Nahua artisans. Hand-carved with an expressive human torso, outstretched arms, and a long painted fish tail, the piece shows classic regional folk-art styling in green, orange, red, and natural wood tones.

The segmented body and open center section indicate its original use as a wearable or carried body mask in community celebrations and dances such as the Danza de los Pescados (Fish Dance). These large hybrid figures are highly collectible examples of mid-20th-century Guerrero parade sculpture.

A striking cultural artifact suitable for folk-art collections, gallery display, or wall mounting.
