Wooden violin with warm brown finish, carved scroll, black fingerboard, four friction pegs, shaped f-holes, black tailpiece, fine tuners and chin rest. The bridge bears a Dresden mark. Accompanied by a bow with dark frog, shell-inlaid slide and metal mounts, together with a fitted black-painted wood carrying case lined in blue and purple floral-patterned fabric. The case retains an interior label reading "William Johnsen, Storgaden 28, Kristiania." Also included is a Hidersine No. 3V violin rosin box with rosin pieces. A biographical printout concerning Norwegian musician William Farre, born William Johnsen, was found in the case; its association with the instrument or ownership history is not established.
